
Chip Runyon
President & Senior Wealth Advisor
Chip is the President and a Senior Wealth Advisor at River Crescent Advisors, bringing over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. He earned his B.S. in Business Administration and Management from the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech in 2002. While at Virginia Tech, Chip was a standout athlete, serving as a four-year letterman and Team Captain for the Hokies baseball team.
Following graduation, Chip signed a professional contract with the Kansas City Royals and spent two seasons pitching in their minor league system. In 2004, he transitioned into finance by joining The Gartman Letter, L.C., where he worked closely with renowned economist Dennis Gartman. Over his tenure, Chip held several key roles, ultimately serving as Director of Operations and Business Development.
Chip played a pivotal role in the creation of the CIBC Gartman Global Allocation Deposit Notes in 2007 and was a founding partner in the successful 2009 launch of a global macro hedge fund, River Crescent Capital GP, LLC. He also contributed to the development of multiple exchange-traded products listed on the New York Stock Exchange, including the UBS ETRACS Fisher-Gartman ETNs (2011) and the AdvisorShares Gartman Gold ETFs (2014).
In 2020, Chip joined Beacon Harbor Wealth Advisors as a Wealth Advisor and Managing Director, where he also served on the firm’s Investment Committee until April 2025. Now at River Crescent Advisors, he is passionate about working closely with individuals, families, and businesses to develop and implement comprehensive wealth management strategies.
Outside the office, Chip enjoys spending time with his wife, Emily, and their four children. He’s an avid golfer and a loyal Virginia Tech sports fan. Chip and his family are active members of Trinity Episcopal Church in Portsmouth.

Tyler Dunn, MBA, CFP®
Wealth Advisor
Tyler is a Wealth Advisor at River Crescent Advisors with over four years of experience in the financial services industry. He holds a B.A. in Accounting and Economics with an International Emphasis from Randolph-Macon College, where he also competed as a collegiate athlete, pitching in the 2018 NCAA Division III College World Series during his five-year baseball career.
Following his undergraduate studies, Tyler continued his athletic journey while earning his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. He began his professional career with two summers as a Tax & Audit Intern at PBMares, LLP, before transitioning into wealth management as an Associate Wealth Advisor.
Over the past four years, Tyler has developed a strong foundation in financial planning and accounting. He currently holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP®) certification, further deepening his expertise and commitment to serving clients with excellence.
Outside of his advisory role, Tyler remains connected to his alma mater, serving for the past three years as the Director of Analytics and Pitching Coordinator for the Randolph-Macon College baseball program.
